Chorale posts "Songs for the Journey" concerts

The Susquehanna Chorale, an adult chamber ensemble of 40 auditioned singers, will present its spring concert series, "Songs for the Journey," on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, May 12, 13, and 14.

Concerts will take place on May 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 E. Derry Road, Hershey; May 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Market Square Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Second St., Harrisburg; and May 14 at 4 p.m. at the Calvin and Janet High Center for Worship and Performing Arts (Parmer Hall), Messiah University, 1 University Ave., Mechanicsburg.

The programs will be conducted by Susquehanna Chorale founder, artistic director and conductor Linda L. Tedford. According to Tedford, the selections focus on life's milestones and the journeys of faith, growth, and love.

Selections to be performed include "Let All the World in Every Corner Sing" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, "Pilgrims' Hymn" by Stephen Paulus, "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" arranged by Eric Nelson, "O My Luve's Like a Red, Red Rose" by Rene Clausen, "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)" by Billy Joel, "Cardinalis Nobis Pacem" by William Stowman, "Deep River" arranged by Mack Wilberg, and "I'll Be on My Way" by Shawn Kirchner.

The concert will be preceded by a 15-minute instrumental recital featuring organist and pianist Daniel Dorty and guest artists Vera Solomin, a violinist, and Ai-Lin Hsieh, a cellist. Audience members are invited to a reception following each of the concerts.
