Swartz to speak about family cemetery

The Lower Swatara Township Historic Preservation Society will host the program "Swartz Family and Cemetery" on Thursday, May 18, at 6 p.m. The program will be held at the Lower Swatara Fire Department Community Hall, 1350 Fulling Mill Road, Middletown.

Ann Swartz will share how the remains of a cemetery on the Swartz family's homestead helped to reveal the early Swiss Brethren community in Lower Swatara Township.

Ann, daughter of Jim and Nancy, has been a lifelong resident of Lower Swatara Township and Middletown. Although she lived away during college and had an active-duty career in the Army Nurse Corps, she retired from the military and returned to the local area to finish raising her children. Now, retired again from Penn State, she still enjoys the walk across fields to what remains of her family's cemetery.
