Aaron's Acres receives grant

Lancaster County Women for Good held its Spring Gather & Grant on May 10 at Lancaster's Southern Market. At the event, members voted on and granted the funds they raised as a group over the preceding three months.

Lancaster County Women for Good is committed to supporting nonprofit organizations that serve the local community. Members nominated Aaron's Acres, Second Grace Inc., and Arch Street Center as the three nonprofit finalists. Representatives from each organization gave a short presentation to the group, followed by a question-and-answer time. Members voted on which of the finalists would receive the $5,500 grant at the end of the event.

The grant recipient, Aaron's Acres, serves children and young adults with disabilities by providing them with opportunities to participate in innovative and unique social and recreational programs in an atmosphere of acceptance that embraces the child and family. Among Aaron's Acres' programs is a summer camp program for people ages 5 to 21.

A fast-growing female collective giving group with a focus on the Lancaster County region, Lancaster County Women for Good seeks to help local women build connections and enrich their professional and personal lives while doing good for the greater community. The group's more than 270 members come together once every quarter to network, donate, learn about local nonprofits, and vote on which ones to support together. The organization is an official Grapevine giving circle as part of a nationwide movement to diversify and democratize philanthropy. To learn more, visit http://www.lancowomenforgood.com.
