Kids' arts and crafts workshops set

The Winters Heritage House, 47 E. High St., Elizabethtown, will host three summer arts and crafts workshops for children this summer. All classes have an age recommendation of 8 and up.

A Felted Soap Workshop will be held on Thursday, June 22, from 2 to 4 p.m., taught by Susan Wheelersburg. Felted soap is soap that is wrapped in colorful wool fibers. During the workshop, attendees will use the wet felting technique, where the strands of wool fiber that surround the soap shrink and cling to the bar of soap as the artist soaks and rubs the fibers in soapy water.

A Sewing Workshop will take place on Wednesday, July 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. Attendees will create a small pillow with their own unique design, and they will explore sewing different shapes and stitches. This workshop is for beginners, as well as those with experience. It will be taught by Teresa St. Angelo.

The museum will host a Weaving Workshop on Thursday, Aug. 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. Participants will use drinking straws along with the over, under, over technique to produce a bookmark or a bracelet, and beads will be available to customize the items.

There is a fee for each class, with a discount for siblings, museum members and those registering for all three classes. To register, stop by the museum or visit http://www.elizabethtownhistory.org and click on Events. Anyone who wishes to register online but would like one of the discounts may call the museum at 717-367-4672. For more information, email teresa@elizabethtownhistory.org.
