Friendship Heart Gallery sets exhibit

The Friendship Heart Gallery & Studio will present a new exhibit, "Step Into Summer." The opening reception will be held on Friday, June 2, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lancaster City Gallery & Studio, 118 N. Water St., Suite 101, Lancaster.

From scenic views to summertime snow cones, this exhibition is the Friendship Heart Artists' reflection on summer. Also, Friendship Heart recruited help from the local community during this past Art Walk to help fill the gallery's front display with coffee-filter butterflies. More than 50 butterflies hang in the front window, showcasing the creativity and uniqueness of the Lancaster city community. Community members may participate in another activity during the Fall Art Walk in downtown Lancaster on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 21 to 22, in conjunction with the gallery's November art exhibit.

Friendship Heart Studio is a day program that celebrates personalities and talent through free expression and collaboration. The 60 artists work with professionals and volunteers to create artwork while developing a sense of purpose, value, and freedom. The studio seeks to realize its vision of expressing capabilities by promoting artistic skills and self-expression through various techniques while utilizing both traditional and unconventional media.

Friendship Community is a faith-based organization dedicated to cultivating capabilities of individuals with intellectual disability and autism since 1972. In addition to the arts day program, it offers a home-based service program and 24 residential homes within Lancaster and Lebanon counties.
