Come to a Strawberry Social

For some sweet, small-town fun, head to Elizabethtown Borough Park, 201 S. Mount Joy St., for the the third annual Strawberry Social. The event, organized by LIV-Etown, will be held on Sunday, June 11, from 1 to 6 p.m.

"This is an event based on the concept of a laid-back community picnic in the park, where you can make it what you want it to be," said Clint Gibble, who is hosting the event with Tony Gibble. "You can pop in and see what's there or dress up in as much red - over the top is encouraged - and spend the afternoon. You can enjoy food and dessert from the food trucks or bring your own meal or snacks. You can also come out and set up your own table with decor for your group or family. All are welcome, and everyone is invited to be a part of it. Mix and mingle with people from the community and beyond, make new friends and reunite with people you know."

The Strawberry Social will feature live entertainment, including music, as well as free games and activities by The Tatted Toy Guys. A pie-eating contest will be sponsored by Lethea Myers BHHS Homesale Realty, and free chocolate-covered strawberries by Mars Wrigley and the Masonic Farmers Market will be available. GEARS will hold the Strawberry Basket Basketball 3 on 3 on the park basketball courts, and bounce houses will be set up for children. A Makers Market, organized by Trade Faire, will be featured, and The Candy Unicornium will host a free strawberry candy buffet. Strawberry ice cream samples will be offered courtesy of Figments In Sprinkles, and character meet-and-greets will be featured by Everlasting Wishes and Company. Additional activities will include a costume contest, food trucks, stilt walkers, an animal showcase by Innocent Feeders and a water battle with Clint at the end of the event. Food vendors will include Tri-County BBQ, Fuego Latino, Philly Cheesesteak Co. On The Roll, Bep's Family Faves, Sweet & Salty Handcrafted Rolled Ice Cream, Mar's Delights and The Donut Guys.

Tony and Clint noted that the Strawberry Social would not be possible without the support of event sponsors the Elizabethtown Area Chamber of Commerce and DDMP Investment Advisors, as well as yearly sponsors Mars Wrigley, the Elizabethtown Police Department and Lethea Myers BHHS Homesale Realty.

"This is one of two events that LIV-ETown holds that takes place away from the Elizabethtown downtown," Tony Gibble said. "The other is The Hallowe-ETown Parade in October held with Elizabethtown College. And unlike our other events that are designed to invite guests to our downtown to fall in love with it and showcase all it has to offer, these events are held as a thank you to the communities that support all our local businesses and keep this a growing and thriving area to live, work, shop, visit and love."
