Local Boys & Girls Club alumnus to speak at event

Stand-up comedian and professional caddie Michael Collins will return to his hometown of Lancaster on Thursday, June 15, to be the keynote speaker at the Club to CLUBS event benefiting Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster. The festivities will start at 5:30 p.m. at Lancaster Country Club, 1466 New Holland Pike, Lancaster.

The event will help to launch a new opportunity at the Boys & Girls Club, which will connect youths in Lancaster city and Columbia to the game of golf. Mentors, ranging from volunteer everyday golfers to clubhouse pros, will help youths to understand the game, the strategy, and the etiquette so they may feel comfortable on the green. In addition, youth members will have the opportunity to become trained caddies at Lancaster Country Club as well as to caddie for scholarship opportunities through the J. Wood Platt Scholarship Trust.

For the past 30 years, Collins has been making people laugh on and off the course. He has combined his comedy and caddying talents in his role as an ESPN golf analyst and host of "America's Caddie" on ESPN+. Collins travels across the country covering the professional golf tour and interviewing golf's biggest stars.

In 2022, he was inducted into Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Alumni Hall of Fame. He joined the ranks of internationally recognized celebrities, like Jennifer Lopez and Denzel Washington, for whom the Boys & Girls Clubs played a critical role during childhood. The event featuring Collins will raise funds to support the golf initiative and other after-school and summer programs at the Boys & Girls Club.
