Collection drive to benefit cats and kittens

The Cocoa Kitties and Derry Township Community Cat Program collection drive will be held at Pronio's Market, 236 W. Caracas Ave., Hershey, on Friday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Community members may give monetary or item donations. Pronio's has hosted the drive for 11 years.

The Derry Township Community Cat Program is free to Derry Township residents and those in neighboring communities who benefit from trapping feral cats and kittens. The program is run by volunteers. Monetary donations provide vaccinations, spaying and neutering, post-surgical care and nourishment, housing, regular feeding, and care for the area's cats and kittens. As much as possible, the volunteers place kittens and cats in forever homes.

The needed items include wet and dry adult and kitten food, including Fancy Feast kitten pate, Friskies canned food (pate), Purina kitten chow, and Purina cat chow; paper towels; 30-gallon trash bags; pellet and clay litter; and Dawn liquid dish detergent.

Additionally, there will be a giveaway drawing for a basket containing a cat bracelet, a Cat Mom water bottle, feline socks, a pink plush throw, paw note cards, the Exploding Kittens game, and more.
