GEARS posts fitness classes and more

An AARP Smart DriverTEK Workshop will be presented on Wednesday, July 12, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the East Donegal Township Municipal Building, 190 Rock Point Road, Marietta. The workshop will offer an interactive way to stay up to date with the latest safety technology in a current or future car. Attendees will learn about new features, how they work, and how they may increase one's confidence behind the wheel. The program is free and open to those of all ages.

Cardio & Calm, for people age 14 and up, will be held on Thursdays, July 13 to Aug. 31, from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. at the Marriage Hub, 18 N. Market St., Elizabethtown. There will be no class on July 20 and Aug. 17. Each class will consist of 30 minutes of rotating cardio fitness and 30 minutes of Hatha Flow Yoga. Participants should bring a yoga mat.

People age 14 and up may also attend Cycle Strong on Saturdays, July 15 to Aug. 26, from 8 to 8:45 a.m. at The Marriage Hub, 18 N. Market St., Elizabethtown. There will be no class on July 29. Attendees should bring water and a towel, as well as two small hand weights if they would like to add upper-body strength work.

Children ages 5 to 10 may participate in Snapology Ninjas on Monday to Thursday, July 17 to 20, from 9 a.m. to noon in the gym at the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. Attendees will build a dojo using Lego bricks and train to be ninjas.

Bears Youth Football Camp, for youths in grades three through nine, will be held on Camp is Sunday and Monday, July 23 and 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Field, 600 E. High St., Elizabethtown. Children may attend one or both days, and the fee will be discounted for those who attend both days. Elizabethtown Area High School varsity football coach Keith Stokes and the high school team will lead this new camp. The program will focus on the fundamentals of football - passing, agility, catching and defensive techniques - in a fun but competitive atmosphere. A T-shirt is included in the fee.
