North Museum to host world premiere

The North Museum of Nature and Science unveiled the exhibition "Dinosaurs Among Us" on June 24. The North Museum is one of only four organizations - and the only one in the U.S. - selected by the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) to be a premiere presenter of the exhibit. The North Museum's exhibition will run through March 31, 2024.

"Dinosaurs Among Us" examines the similarities between dinosaurs and modern birds. The exhibition is presented in both English and Spanish and uses fossil imagery and life-size illustrations, with strategically placed images and text for both children and adults on panels as large as 8 by 19 feet. Items from the North Museum's collections of eggs, nests, taxidermy birds and fossils add 3D facets to the exhibit. "Dinosaurs Among Us" represents months of collaboration with local professionals and museum volunteers.

Admission to "Dinosaurs Among Us" is included in the North Museum's general admission price; admission is free for children under 3. As a participant in the national Blue Star Museums program, the North Museum will offer free admission to active-duty military members and their families through Monday, Sept. 4.

Additional volunteers are needed for docent services, multilingual translating guides and more, and additional information is available at https://northmuseum.org/volunteer/. Funding and in-kind sponsors are invited to contact Scott Downs at sdowns@NorthMuseum.org.
