MDJA receives grant to modernize operations

The Marietta-Donegal Joint Authority (MDJA) has been awarded a grant in the amount of $349,650 from Lancaster County for solids handling improvements at its wastewater treatment plant. The funds will be used to replace the aging belt filter press with new technology that will enable more efficient sludge dewatering with the goal of better serving customers. The project is funded in part through an ARPA grant from the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners.

The MDJA operates a wastewater treatment plant that serves the needs of the local community. The plant receives wastewater from households and businesses in the area, and the solids that are removed from the wastewater are currently processed using the aging belt filter press. With the new technology, the Marietta-Donegal Joint Authority will be able to more effectively manage the solids and reduce the volume of waste that needs to be disposed of.
