Library posts programs

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will offer a variety of programming. All programs are free, unless stated otherwise, and require preregistration. For more information and to register, visit http://www.mslibrary.org or call 717-653-1510.

Food trucks will be parked at the library every Thursday through Aug 24. One set of trucks will serve customers from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and a different set of trucks will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. Check the aforementioned website and the library's social media pages for the food truck schedule.

The Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank will hold a blood drive at the library on Thursday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments are strongly recommended. To schedule, visit http://www.717GiveBlood.org and click "Donate Now" or call 800-771-0059. Walk-ins are welcome; however, donors with appointments will be served first. Identification is required.

The "Love Your Library Benefit Bash" will take place on Friday, Aug. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. It will include live music and other entertainment, food trucks, family games and a silent auction. The event is free to attend; food trucks will offer items for purchase, and some games will charge a nominal fee.

Families may pick up Summer Reading Program reading logs through July and into August.

Families are invited to the library for a "So You Want To Be A ..." interactive program every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Each program will feature a special guest. Upcoming programs include "So You Want to Work on the Railroad" on July 6, "So You Want to Drive the Bookmobile" on July 13, "So You Want to Be a Civil War Re-enactor" on July 20 and "So You Want To Be a Folk Musician" on July 27.

Donuts with Dad, for kids and their dads, will take place on Saturday, July 8, at 10 a.m. It will feature a movie, an activity, and doughnuts.

Teen Chill and Draw with Hanna, an after-hours program, will be offered on July 8 at 1 p.m.

Adventures with Baby will be offered to children ages 6 months to 2 years at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 10.

Ran'D Shine will present The Magic Box Show, featuring magic, music and storytelling, on Tuesday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m.

Lunch Bunch will offer those age 7 and older an opportunity to bring lunch and a book they are reading and to meet a mystery guest. The program will begin at noon on Tuesdays, July 11, 18 and 25, and a snack will be provided.

Teen 'Zine, featuring graphic novelist Kayla Miller, will be presented via Zoom on July 11 and 25 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Families are invited to attend Lego Challenge on July 11 at 6 p.m.

Family Story Time will be offered on Wednesdays, July 12 and 26, at 10:30 a.m.

Fun Fort Friday will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. on July 14 while the library is closed. Participants should bring blankets and sheets, a flashlight and a beverage. Clips will be provided to hang sheets or blankets to create forts. A snack will be provided.

The library will host a Family Bubble Party on Saturday, July 15, at 10 a.m.

Patrons may decorate the library's front sidewalks on Sidewalk Chalk Day on Monday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Art in the Park for children age 7 and older will offer an opportunity to create theme-inspired art based upon the works of a particular artist. The program will take place on July 17 at 1:30 p.m.

Family Book Bingo will take place on July 18 at 6 p.m. for people age 7 and older. The interactive bingo with themed rounds will offer books as prizes.

Phredd Ukulele One-Man Band will perform on Wednesday, July 19, at 10:30 a.m.

The library will offer Readers Theater on Friday, July 21, at 10 a.m. for children age 7 and up. Children will prepare short readers' theater pieces and then perform them for an audience of family members at 11:45 a.m.

People of all ages are invited to participate in Rocks of Kindness on Saturday, July 22, at 10 a.m. The library will supply all the materials needed to paint messages on rocks.

Snorey Time will be held at 6 p.m. on July 25. The family program will include stories, a simple craft, and a light snack. Attendees are encouraged to wear their pajamas.

Teens age 12 and up are invited to attend Teen Anime Movie Night, featuring "Spirited Away," on July 27 at 6 p.m. Snacks will be provided.

Unstructured creative play will be offered during Wee Build Free Build on Friday, July 28, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Life of a Civil War Soldier will be presented on Saturday, July 29, at 10 a.m. Attendees will learn about the life of a Union infantry soldier and hear from local re-enactors.

Programs and clubs for adults will also be offered. Regular programs include Closely Knit for knitters and crocheters at 1 p.m. on Mondays, July 10 and 24; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club for people of all skill levels from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on July 15; Easy Writer Club on July 19 at 6:30 p.m.; Book Discussion Group - Lit Lovers at 6:30 p.m. on July 25; and a Friends of the Milanof-Schock Library meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 14.

Adults may take on the Read Your Bucket List Summer Reading Challenge. Participants may enter their name to be eligible to win a small prize each week and a grand prize at the end of August.

Nancy Groff will discuss her book "Watt & Shand: East, West, Hame's Best" and the history of Lancaster's Watt & Shand department store on July 17 at 6 p.m. Groff is a great-granddaughter of Peter T. and Lizzie Watt; Peter was one of the store's three founders.

Adult Book Bingo will be held at 2 p.m. on July 19. Winners will receive vouchers for books from the sale racks.

The library will offer Make-It Monday - "Rock On" on July 24 at 6 p.m. Attendees may paint patterns or words on smooth stones and use wire to create a photo, memento or recipe holder.
