Tour to highlight Mount Gretna homes, historic buildings

The community is invited to enjoy a glimpse into the architecture and style of Mount Gretna's iconic homes on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The self-guided walking tour will offer a peek inside 10 Mount Gretna homes and three historic buildings. Tourgoers will see everything from tiny weekend getaway cottages to modern year-round homes.

Featured on the tour this year is a home with an art studio that has been utilized by various local artists, a home situated on property that has been deemed a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation, the former Mount Gretna Inn and others.

Visitors will get to see how people have transformed these cottages to accommodate modern life while keeping the charm inherent in the structures.

The tour is sponsored by Snitz Creek Cabinet Shop. Proceeds will benefit Gretna Music, an organization that has been presenting music in central Pennsylvania for more than 48 years.

Tickets purchased in advance will be discounted. Advance tickets are available by calling Gretna Music at 717-361-1508, visiting http://www.gretnamusic.org or stopping by Stauffers of Kissel Hill locations or the Mount Gretna Visitor Information Center.

On the day of the tour, tickets will be sold outside the Mount Gretna Post Office on Princeton Avenue and in front of the Mount Gretna Playhouse at 200 Pennsylvania Ave.
