ELANCO Library plans activities

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is not required, unless noted. For details, visit http://www.elancolibrary.org or contact 717-354-0525 or adagostino@elancolibrary.org.

ELANCO Library is seeking donations of gently used children's books to sell at the Friends of the Library's book sales and to give away to young readers. Patrons may drop off donations at the library any time it is open.

Jesse Rothacker from Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary will present Critters of All Kinds on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 1:30 p.m. Attendees will learn how critters of all kinds work together to make one world. This program is recommended for school-age children.

Lancaster Science Factory will offer Kitchen Chemistry on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 10:30 a.m. Kids will explore chemical reactions using common, household ingredients and learn about acid-base reactions, decomposition chemistry, pressure and gas, and chromatography. Things may get messy, so attendees should dress accordingly. The program is recommended for school-age children. Space is limited to 25 participants, and registration is required.

Budgeting and Banking Basics will be offered on Aug. 2 at 3 p.m. Experts from M & T Bank will share information on budgeting, setting and achieving financial goals, choosing a financial institution, and more. Free pizza will be provided. This workshop is tailored for teens and young adults, but people of all ages are welcome.

Preschool Story Time for children ages 3 to 6 and their siblings will be held on Tuesdays, and Toddler Thursdays will run on Thursdays for children ages 1 to 3 and their siblings. Music and Movement, a musical story time, will be offered for children from birth through age 6 with a parent or caregiver on Saturday, Aug. 5. All three programs will start at 10:30 a.m.

Read with Pepper the Pup! will take place on Aug. 5 at 2 p.m. Children of all ages accompanied by a parent or other caregiver may read aloud to Pepper the Labrador retriever.

Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion will meet on Monday, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m.

Family Bingo and Trivia Night will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 6 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.

Lego Creation Club will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m.

The library will host an "All Together Now" Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party for people of all ages on Saturday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. to celebrate the achievements of participants in the Summer Reading Programs for children and adults. Everyone is invited, even if they did not participate in the reading program. The event will feature food, music, the Library System of Lancaster County's Bookmobile, and more.

Hooks and Needles: Yarn Craft Club, for adults who knit or crochet, will meet on Monday, Aug. 14, at 6:30 p.m.

Buckhill Sleuths' Book Discussion will be held on Monday, Aug. 28, at 2 p.m.
