Come out to the Kids Cookie Break Fest

Come to the Kids Cookie Break Fest for family fun, food and entertainment. The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, at The Junction Center, 1875 Junction Road, Manheim. Two identical sessions will be held, one from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and one from 2 to 5 p.m.

"You'll see a variety of friends you might have heard on the Kids Cookie Break," explained Stacey Gagne, vice president of operations for WJTL FM 90.3, referencing the kid-friendly radio program. "It's like we're bringing all of the fun of the Kids Cookie Break to a free event for families."

Two outdoor stages will feature performances and programs by Phredd, Steven Courtney, First Capital Drumline, Jared Erb, Cissy and The Man, Marian & Friends Ventriloquist, Jesse Rothacker and Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary, This Way Up and Ryan & Friends.

"We will also have a bounce house, covered wagon rides, Spooky Nook Gymnastics, barrel train rides, chalk art, interactive vendor tents and carnival games," Gagne noted.

This is the 11th year for the Kids Cookie Break Fest. Each year, the event supports an organization in the community by encouraging participants to donate specific items with admission.

"This year, we are inviting everyone who attends to donate art supplies to the School District of Lancaster," Gagne explained. "Specifically, we are asking for art paper, paintbrushes and Sharpies."

People will have the opportunity to purchase a Chick-fil-A box lunch to enjoy on-site, with proceeds helping to offset the cost of the event. "People are also welcome to bring their own picnic lunch if they want to," Gagne remarked.

She noted that the fest relies on volunteers as well as sponsors to operate. Sponsors of this year's Kids Cookie Break Fest include Sight & Sound Theatres, STRAY Production Services, Weaver's Garage, Upward Broadband, Align Life Ministries, Casey Jones' Restaurant at Paradise Station, Spooky Nook Sports, Chick-fil-A, The Bull Guys, Blessings of Hope and Herr's.

The Kids Cookie Break Fest not only provides an opportunity to showcase performers from the radio program but also offers a fun family day out, Gagne said.

"We want to provide an event that is free for families," she stated. "It's an opportunity to enjoy time together, have fun as a family and to connect with us at WJTL."
