Quilter's Yard-age Sale to benefit MCC

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) invites quilters, sewists and crafters to the 2023 Quilter's Yard-age Sale on Friday, Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 9, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Named after the substantial amounts of fabric yardage for sale, the event will take place at the Material Resource Center (MCR), located at 517 W. Trout Run Road, Ephrata.

Throughout the year, donations of fabric, sewing supplies and unfinished quilting projects are given to the MRC. These items come from people who are cleaning out their sewing rooms, downsizing their homes or closing their fabric stores. Bringing these donations to the MRC keeps sewing and quilting items from ending up in the landfill. It also helps to support the ministries of MCC in relief, development and peacebuilding. Since there is no longer a Quilt Preview in the spring, these items will be available for purchase at the Quilter's Yard-age Sale.

In addition, the Quilter's Yard-age Sale will feature unfinished quilt projects, vintage items, quilt books and magazines, patterns, pre-priced finished quilts, wall hangings, sewing tools and notions and supplies.

Upcycled items handmade by MRC volunteers will also be available for purchase, including woven rag rugs and table runners, tote bags, potholders and aprons made from donated textiles.

Proceeds from the Quilter's Yard-age Sale benefit MCC's ministries around the world. MCC is a global, nonprofit organization that strives to share God's love and compassion for all through relief, development and peace.
