Bike ride to benefit pet rescue

Pawsitive Hearts Pet Therapy and Rescue Inc. will host the first "Paws of Thunder" benefit ride on Saturday, Sept. 16.

The ride will depart from Classic Harley-Davidson, 983 James Drive, Leesport, and end at Johnny and Hons Smokehaus, 924 W. Penn Ave., Robesonia, where a chicken barbecue dinner will be provided by Veterans Riders Association.

Registration will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., and the riders will depart at 11 a.m. There will be a set route that goes from the Harley-Davidson dealer to Robesonia, with a break at Blue Mountain Lake in Hamburg. There will be a car leading the riders along the route, and police departments from Womelsdorf and Bethel townships will be in charge of traffic control.

According to Kathy Iglar, Pawsitive Hearts executive director, proceeds from the ride will be earmarked for the rescue's building fund. The rescue is looking to purchase space to be used as a shelter so it can save more animals.

Tickets for the ride are available at Classic Harley-Davidson or by emailing Kathy@PawsitiveHeartsPA.org or texting 484-818-1410. For more information about the ride, visit http://www.pawsitiveheartspa.org/events.
