Program to focus on greenways

Manada Conservancy will present "Corridors of Blue and Green: A Modern Look at Greenways" on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. at the South Hanover Township building on Patriot Way in Hummelstown.

Traditionally, waterways have been managed separately from adjacent trails. However, modern greenways include both the waterway - the blue - and the trail corridor - the green. This approach is meant to strengthen community resilience, mitigate stormwater management, improve water quality and provide access to all.

"Corridors of Blue and Green" will highlight Manada Conservancy's Green Ribbon Landscape project as well as the engagement of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) with modern greenway projects that leverage funding from multiple sources to support trail projects along waterways as well as stream restoration initiatives. Speakers will include Shawn Jacobs, greenway project coordinator with Manada Conservancy; Vallie Edenbo, rivers program specialist with DCNR; and Lori Yeich, recreation and conservation manager with DCNR.

The program is free. More information is available at http://www.manada.org.
