5K to benefit Alzheimer's Association

A Race to Remember, a 5K run and walk, will be held by LMI Advertising on Saturday, Oct. 28. Registration will take place from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m., and the 5K race will start at 9 a.m. The race course will start and finish at Reidenbaugh Elementary School, 1001 Buckwalter Road, Lititz. Awards will be given out.

2023 marks the event's 11th year. In its first decade, the event has raised over $550,000, with the proceeds benefiting the Alzheimer's Association to help provide support and to further research about all types of dementias, including frontotemporal dementia, to develop treatment and ultimately find a cure.

The event is held in memory of Gary J. Bellanca, founder of LMI Advertising and captain of A Race to Remember. Bellanca's love of running provided him with a foundation to tackle obstacles and persevere. Gary was diagnosed with early onset dementia in 2007 and was re-diagnosed three years later with frontotemporal dementia. He died peacefully on Dec. 15, 2021.

Parking is available. The fee will be discounted until Sunday, Oct. 22. To register or learn more, go to http://www.lmiadvertising.com/AR2R.
