Cemetery tour to explore local history

Garden Spot Village Lighter Side Entertainers and New Holland Area Historical Society will offer Voices of the Past, a cemetery tour, on Sunday, Oct. 15. The first tour will start at 1 p.m., and the last tour will begin at 3:30 p.m.

During the event, attendees will meet people portraying some of those interred at the St. Stephen Reformed Church and Trinity Lutheran Church graveyards. Among the featured historical figures will be an artist, a confederate soldier, a famous minister, a Revolutionary soldier and the wife of the founder of New Holland. Attendees will learn about these people's lives and the era in which they lived.

Parking is available in the lots adjacent to the churches. St. Stephen is located at 249 E. Main St., and Trinity Lutheran is at 221 E. Main St.

Tickets will be available on-site for a suggested price, and all proceeds will go to New Holland Historical Society. Children under 16 and under will be admitted for free.

In the case of rain, the program will be held indoors at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland.
