Church to host guest speaker

Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 S. Mount Joy St., Elizabethtown, will present "An Evening with John Pavlovitz," featuring a talk by the acclaimed author, blogger, pastor and social justice activist. The event will take place on Friday, Oct. 20, from 7 to 10 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Pavlovitz is known for his blog, "Stuff That Needs To Be Said," which has attracted a diverse, global readership since its inception in 2012. His posts cover a wide range of topics, with a particular focus on social justice issues.

Pavlovitz is also the author of several books, including "If God Is Love, Don't Be A Jerk," "A Bigger Table," "Stuff That Needs to Be Said" and "Hope and Other Super Powers."

As a former mega-church pastor, Pavlovitz will share insights into his personal journey and how he transitioned from his previous role to becoming an advocate for social justice and a more compassionate world. There will also be a question-and-answer session.

Following the speaking event, attendees are invited to join Pavlovitz in the fellowship hall for a meet-and-greet session and light refreshments. Additionally, his books and merchandise will be available for purchase both before and after the event.
