Meals on Wheels seeks volunteer cooks

Lititz Meals on Wheels has a continuing and urgent need for additional volunteer cooks. For those who like to cook, this is an opportunity to help prepare hot meals for clients in need of nutritional support in the Warwick School District.

Meals are prepared on Mondays through Fridays, from 8 to 11 a.m. in a clean, well equipped kitchen at Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W. Orange St., Lititz.

Volunteers can choose their day or days, weekly or monthly, to suit their schedule, or join the substitute cook list.

Cooks prepare a hot meal, with a protein and two vegetables, while other kitchen helpers prepare salads, sandwiches, snacks and desserts. Cooks follow pre-printed easy menus for 50 to 60 people with prep and cooking time about 1.5 to 2 hours. Cooks can be men or women working alone or they can team up with a friend and cook together.
