Library posts programs

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will offer a variety of programming. All programs are free, unless stated otherwise, and require preregistration. For more information and to register, visit http://www.mslibrary.org or call 717-653-1510.

The library will hold a patron appreciation celebration from Monday, Oct. 16, to Tuesday, Oct. 31.

The library will be closed on Fridays and open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Programs for children and teens include Family Story Time on Wednesdays and Thursdays from Oct. 4 to 26 at 10:30 a.m.; Adventures with Baby on Monday, Oct. 9, at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 6 months to 2 years; Lego Challenge on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m.; Fun Fort Friday for families on Friday, Oct. 13, from 5 to 6 p.m.; and Fun Family Bingo on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m.

Several activities have been planned especially for homeschoolers age 7 and up. Identical sessions of the Homeschool Art Class will be held on Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday, Oct. 12, at 1:30 p.m. Homeschool STEM will be available on Oct. 17 at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday, Oct. 19, at 1:30 p.m. Homeschool History Mystery will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 10:30 a.m. and Oct. 26 at 1:30 p.m.

Teen Chill & Draw with Hannah will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m. for teens who like to draw or want to learn. The library will provide supplies, but teens may also bring their own.

During Family Movie Matinee Saturday, the library will show "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" on the big screen. Popcorn will be available, and there will be a small craft. This activity will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 1:30 p.m.

Teen D&D will meet on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. The group has room for one or two more players.

Activities for adults will include Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Oct. 9 and 23, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, Oct. 21 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; book bingo on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m.; Easy Writer Club, for writers of all levels, on Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m., with no registration required; Make-It Monday, for people of all ages, on Oct. 23 at 6 p.m.; and Book Discussion Group - Lit Lovers, focusing on "Rules of Civility" by Amor Towles, on Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m.

The Friends of Milanof-Schock Library will hold a meeting on Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. New members are welcome.

The movie "Where the Crawdads Sing" will be screened on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 1:30 p.m. Popcorn will be provided.

Adam Barkafski, a Penn State Extension Master Gardener in Lancaster County, will present "Rethinking Fall Gardening Cleanup" on Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. Barkafski will share fall garden cleanup practices that can have positive effects on the health and survival of pollinators, wildlife, and even the soil itself.

Community members are welcome to attend the library's board meeting on Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to help the library get its grounds ready for the colder months. Tasks include weeding, raking leaves, trimming withered plants, and planting spring-flowering bulbs. The cleanup will take place on Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon.
