Church posts October activities

Church of the Apostles United Church of Christ, located at 1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, has scheduled several events this month.

The church will present an evening of Mocktails and Meaning on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m. In the inaugural discussion, Beth Reeves from POWER Interfaith will be the host and she will lead the conversation on the topic of education funding in Pennsylvania.

To complement the dialogue, a sparkling spiced apple cider mocktail will be served. While registration is not mandatory, registering in advance is encouraged to assist organizers with event planning. The church will present its second annual Halloween Costume Parade and Party on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. Activities will begin in the church parking lot, and the costume parade will travel through Homestead Village. The parade will conclude in Rader Park with live music, ice cream, yard games, crafts and tractor rides. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to win a bicycle. Later that eventing, multi-media artist and storyteller Bill Hager and troupe will be featured at 7 p.m. During the event, Hager will present the tales of "Medusa and the Pearl of Poseidon" and "Brigid O'Callahan and the Turquoise Prince." Following the storytelling, Hager will provide insights into the behind-the-scenes process that brings these oral and photographic stories to life.
