Students invited to compete in science fair

Students in grades six to 12 are invited to enter the 72nd North Museum Science and Engineering Fair (NMSEF). Lancaster County students of public, private, charter, online and home schools are eligible to compete in the junior (middle school) and senior (senior high school) divisions, with a variety of categories available.

Since 1953, the NMSEF has inspired thousands of students. It is one of only six such fairs in Pennsylvania that are affiliated with the International Science and Engineering Fair.

To help make the NMSEF financially accessible to all students, North Museum was recently awarded a $50,000 grant from the Pittsburgh-based Arconic Foundation, joining sponsorship commitments from Kenvue (formerly Johnson & Johnson) and Corteva.

The Science Fair involves more than 100 volunteer judges, who are STEM educators and professionals from area companies and schools. The event will culminate on Thursday, March 7, 2024, and the grand and senior champions will advance to the International Science and Engineering Fair competition in May. North Museum will pay for all registration, fees, travel and accommodations for those champions.

Registration and participation are free of charge to all students. To register through Monday, Oct. 23, visit http://www.northmuseum.org/nmsef.
