Volunteers are needed for the 18th Akron New Year's Eve Shoe In, which will take place on Sunday, Dec. 31. Anyone interested in volunteering may attend the committee meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Akron Borough Hall, 117 S. Seventh St., Akron.

Volunteers are needed to set up at 1 p.m. on Dec. 31 and to tear down at 1 p.m. on New Year's Day, Monday, Jan. 1, 2024. Other needs include filling large vats with water to make hot chocolate, handing out candy bags and ensuring all attendees are safe during the candy shoot, and holding and aiming the candy cannon.

Games, such as cornhole, lawn darts, and Kerplunk, will be available to play, and a volunteer is needed to oversee children as they play. Additional tasks will include helping the DJ with trivia questions, helping to set up food, and aiding attendees with boarding and disembarking from the hayride. A volunteer is also needed to solicit gift cards.
