Thaddeus Stevens College receives donation

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology recently accepted a $73,000 gift to its foundation from Central Pennsylvania-based Mid Atlantic Machinery and its partners. The funds will be used to provide scholarships to students in the college's metals fabrication and welding associate degree program.

Several staff members from Mid Atlantic Machinery attended the check presentation, including Kevin Kilgallen, president; Kara Kilgallen, marketing manager; Jeff Tankesley, chief financial officer; Sheri Rice, senior human resources professional; Lance Fisher, senior operations manager; and Tammy Bakker, sales administrative manager. Also in attendance were students, staff members and faculty from Thaddeus Stevens College, including president Pedro Rivera.

Mid Atlantic Machinery is a machine tool and fabrication equipment distributor based in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County. The company has been a longtime partner and supporter of Thaddeus Stevens College, demonstrating that support through regularly hiring program graduates as well as philanthropy.

Mid Atlantic has hosted an annual golf event for the past 10 years specifically to raise funds for the college, with those dollars going directly toward the Mid Atlantic Machinery Scholarship.

The company has hired graduates not only from the college's metals fabrication and welding program, but also its electro-mechanical technology track and business administration major. Its leadership also encourages its customers to hire graduates from Thaddeus Stevens College as well. Tankesley also serves on the board of trustees for Thaddeus Stevens Foundation.
