Silent auction to benefit Hope Within

Hope Within Community Health, Counseling, and Dental Center will hold a virtual silent auction of authenticated, signed sports memorabilia during the month of November. Due to a donor, the auction will offer a range of items, including Penn State and Steelers football signed items as well as baseballs signed by legends like Nolan Ryan and Tom Seaver.

Among the premier items up for auction are a framed No. 11 Penn State jersey signed by both Micah Parsons and Abdul Carter and a photo of what is known as "The Immaculate Reception" signed by Franco Harris, formerly of the Steelers. These items were donated by Terry L. Davis.

The items will be available for viewing at Hope Within's Holiday Shop and Open House on Friday, Nov. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at 4748 E. Harrisburg Pike, Elizabethtown. A full list of the items is available at http://www.hopewithin.org/events, and photos of the items are available at http://www.facebook.com/HopeWithinMinistries/events.

Bids should be submitted by email to connect@hopewithin.org. The highest bidder for each item will be notified after the close of bidding on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Hope Within is located in Londonderry Township, between Middletown and Elizabethtown Borough, and serves residents of Dauphin, Lancaster, and Lebanon counties who are medically uninsured and financially eligible. For medical care, financial eligibility is capped at 250% of the federal poverty level. Many common prescription medications are also provided free of charge. Donation-based oral health screenings, education, cleanings, sealings, fillings, and extractions are also available to those under Hope Within's primary medical care program. Counseling is offered on a self-pay, income-based negotiated fee, and there are no other eligibility requirements.

Hope Within's typical patients are people who make too much money to qualify for Medicaid but who cannot afford health care from the marketplace. These are often people with one or more part-time jobs, like delivery drivers, day care workers and wait staff. In addition, Hope Within has been a temporary medical home for refugees escaping war-torn homes and has served about 600 Ukrainians in the past year, among others.
