Baron Stage will present "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"

"In 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,' four siblings discover a magical wardrobe that leads them to the land of Narnia," said Manheim Central High School junior Eden Marcott. "There, they join forces with the lion Aslan to defeat the White Witch and bring back spring to Narnia."

Manheim Central will present the show at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17 and 18, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, at the Manheim Central Middle School, 216 White Oak Road.

"It's a thrilling adventure full of magic and bravery." explained Eden, who portrays Lucy Pevensie, the youngest of the children.

Senior Alayna Stoltzfus noted that she feels a personal connection to the show. "The story is written by C.S. Lewis, and it is actually a metaphor for the Christian faith and the story of Jesus Christ," she stated. "I play the role of Aslan. He is a great lion who represents good in the world of Narnia. He is always there to watch over the Narnians and Pevensie children. Aslan is also a metaphor for Jesus, which is such a powerful thing. It is such a special opportunity for me to play him, as I have a very close relationship with Jesus."

As the siblings experience their adventures, they also experience personal growth, said senior Andrew Stuart. "It becomes a coming-of-age story for all of them as they journey through this new world that they found," he remarked. "They meet many characters, some who are friends, like Aslan, the Beavers and the Unicorn, while others are far from friends, like the Witch, the Dwarf and Fenris Ulf."

Andrew noted that his character, Edmund Pevensie, has flaws that affect his whole family. "He is someone who still has a lot to learn," he noted.

He encourages audiences to come see the show, noting that it weaves a deep narrative in a short amount of time. It also promises to be an exciting evening of theater, he said, adding, "You can expect great battles, deception, magic, redemption and the triumph of good over evil."
