Exhibit to explore roles of books

The Hummelstown Area Historical Society has announced "Open Book," a new show at the History House. An open house will take place on Sunday, Nov. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. After that, the show will be open on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m.

"Open Book" celebrates the roles of books, collections, and libraries in the lives of Hummelstown area residents. Vintage and contemporary books for adults, young adults, and children are displayed and available for browsing. The historical society's collection of Yount Bibles, Brightbill ledger books, and Hummelstown and Lower Dauphin yearbooks, along with the Bolton collection of Hummel records, are featured. The display also includes Dauphin County and Hummelstown histories; the historical society's library of genealogies and copies of the Hummelstown Sun; and the computer index listing of books of local interest. The history of the town's community library beginning in 1894 at the Parish House is also presented.

There is no charge for admission. For more information, call the office manager at 717-566-6314.
