Concert to feature Elan Ensemble

The Lancaster Church of the Brethren's Starlight Tea Concert Series will feature the Elan Ensemble on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. The church is located at 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster.

The group grew out of the friendships of pianist Debra Ronning, cellist Sara Male, violist Peter Kenote, and pianist and composer Neil Harnly. Each of the musicians has an active musical life performing either orchestral, chamber, or solo music. Only the first three will perform in the Starlight Tea Concert.

Kenote has been a member of the New York Philharmonic viola section since 1983 and has performed with top symphonies around the world. Male is a musician in the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra and a cello professor at area colleges, and Ronning is retired from serving as director of keyboard studies at Elizabethtown College. The group often invites other friends to make music with them, as well.

The concert will include works by Bruch, Dvorak, Menotti, and Beethoven, along with a featured work based on a hymn by Harnly. The program will include solo, duo, and trio pieces.

Tea and cookies will be served following the concert. Admission is free, and a freewill offering will be received. For more information, contact planning committee chair Giny Mackey at 717-201-8450.
