The Horn Farm Center is now accepting applications for two 16-week training courses: the Land Steward Training Program and the Ecological Gardener Training Program. Both programs, to be held at Horn Farm Center, 4945 Horn Road, York, will equip community members with the tools, knowledge and confidence to become impactful caretakers of natural landscapes.

Participants in the Horn Farm Center's signature Land Steward Training Program will gain hands-on experience in restoring broken ecosystems, rebuilding lost habitat, mitigating climate change and reviving a sense of place in nature. Participants in the Ecological Gardener Training Program, hosted by Horn Farm Center and taught by Elyse Jurgen of Lancaster-based Waxwing Ecoworks Co., will gain knowledge and skills for designing, building and stewarding diverse native plant habitats that support pollinators, wildlife and humans in places like yards, work campuses and community spaces. Both programs will be taught by professional local experts with years of experience in holistic land stewardship. No prior knowledge or experience is required for community members to join. Past trainees have been gap-year students, parents, working professionals, community volunteers, retirees and more, traveling from the town next door to over an hour and a half away to attend.

There will be separate costs for each program. Payment plans and scholarships are available, thanks to the Peterman Family Foundation and other individual donors.
