GSV posts support group, program

Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, will host two programs. The programs are open to the public.

Low Vision Friends in Community will meet on Thursday, Dec. 14, from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Garden Towers. Dr. Zoe Horan from Resonance Audiology will present "Low Vision + Hearing Loss." The program is free. For more information, contact Leah Hoffner at 717-355-6171.

Dementia Learning: How to Enjoy the Holidays with Someone Living with Dementia will be presented on Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 11 a.m. to noon at Meadow View Memory Care, 800 Kraybill Ave., New Holland. Melody Karick, dementia educator and consultant, will speak about developing strategies so that everyone can enjoy the holiday season. The program is free, but registration is required by calling 717-355-6000.

People of all ages are invited to attend open houses at the Train Room from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays through Dec. 30. The HO-gauge train layout includes Thomasville and the "Talk with Thomas" event, and the O-gauge layout includes an elevated track. Both layouts provide detailed scenery. The open houses are free and open to the public, and donations will be accepted. Concurrently with the Train Room open houses, the Wood Shop will host a holiday sale offering handcrafted wood items, including kitchen utensils, games, puzzles, gag gifts and stocking stuffers

Vivace will present a concert of seasonal music on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 7 to 8 p.m. Vivace includes singers and performers playing string instruments and chimes. Donations will be accepted at the door to support the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund.

GSV will hold its monthly community meal at CrossNet Youth Ministries, 110 W. Franklin St., New Holland, on Monday, Dec. 18, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This event is supported through donations from GSV residents and team members.
