Concert planned as send-off for organ

The historic 1854 First Reformed Church, 40 E. Orange St., Lancaster, will host the final concert presented on the vintage 1958 analog Allen organ on First Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at 8 p.m. The following week, the organ will be removed, and the installation of a newly restored and enhanced pipe organ will begin.

Organist Larry Hershey will perform in the upcoming program, titled "Farewell Concert for the 1958 Allen Organ." Selections will include "Finale Jubilante" by Healey Willan, "'Twas in the Moon of Wintertime" by Denis Bedard, "Nimrod" from the "Enigma Variations" by Edward Elgar and "Funeral March" by Frederic Chopin. The program will conclude with the "Toccata" from Organ Symphony No. 5 by Charles Marie Widor.

The concert is free and open to the community. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. For more information, contact the church office at 717-397-5149.
