Theater to offer classes, camps

The Susquehanna Stage at the Marietta Center for the Arts, 133 W. Market St., Marietta, has announced upcoming classes.

A Youth Theatre class will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Jan. 29 to March 4, for children and youths ages 7 to 14. This class is suitable for students who are just starting to take an interest in theater and for those looking to practice and expand their acting skills.

Two tap dancing classes will be held on Saturdays, Feb. 17 to March 23, for those age 10 and up. Level 1, from 9 to 10 a.m., is intended for those wanting to learn basic tap steps and techniques while exploring the sounds and rhythms they can create with their feet. Level 2, from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., will be for students with previous experience and those interested in advancing their technique, sound quality, and precision.

Learn to Sew for Beginners will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Mondays, April 22 and 29. This class will offer the opportunity for those 12 years of age and over to learn the basics of a lifelong skill or hobby and go home with a personally made tote bag.

Additionally, through Monday, Feb. 5, the Susquehanna Stage will offer a discount on registration for its summer camps.

The Arts Alive! Summer Arts Camp will be held on Monday to Friday, June 24 to 28. Self-expression and creativity are key at this camp, which offers theater, dance and more.

The Susquehanna Stage will offer two Arts Alive! Show Camps. Week One will be held Monday to Saturday, July 15 to 20, and Week Two will be Monday to Saturday, Aug. 12 to 17. The show camps offer the opportunity to rehearse a student musical theater production and perform for family members and friends.
