Youths interested in field hockey may attend an Indoor Field Hockey Clinic on Saturdays, Feb. 10 to March 16, in the gym at the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. The program will run from 8 to 9 a.m. for children in kindergarten through second grade and 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. for children in grades three through five. Participants will learn the basics of field hockey through a variety of drills, fun competitions and small games. Hockey sticks and balls will be available for use. Shin guards are recommended. The fee includes a T-shirt and mouthguard.

Pickleball lessons will be offered for people age 16 and up in the gym at Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, 996 E. High St., Elizabethtown, on Tuesdays, March 12 and 19, and Thursday, March 14. A class for beginners will be held from noon to 1 p.m., and an intermediate class will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Lessons will cover basic techniques, rules, and strategies. All equipment will be provided.

An AARP Driver Safety refresher course for people age 50 and older will take place on Tuesday, March 5, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. To receive a certificate, participants must bring evidence that they previously completed the eight-hour Driver Safety course. Participants must also bring a valid Pennsylvania driver's license. This course will fulfill requirements for an insurance discount from any auto insurer doing business in Pennsylvania. There is a fee, with a discount for AARP members.

GEARS will hold a Mother/Son Superhero Bowling Event on Saturday, March 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Clearview Bowling Lanes, 1990 W. Main St., Mount Joy. The event will feature unlimited bowling, along with snacks and drinks. Prizes will be awarded. Preregistration by Friday, March 1, is required; space is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
