School celebrates winter graduates

Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) hosted its Class of 2024 Winter Commencement Ceremony on Feb. 7. Fourteen graduates, accompanied by their families and school administrators, took part in the small ceremony and walked across the stage to receive their diplomas.

These students were among a total of 38 seniors who met the criteria for early graduation and opted to graduate in the winter rather than waiting until the end of the school year. Winter graduation eligibility required students to enroll early in college or a trade school, embark on full-time employment, or enlist in the military.

At the ceremony, superintendent Karen Nell welcomed the students and their guests. School board president Stephen Lindemuth shared a message of hope, and EAHS principal Jason D'Amico encouraged the graduates to pursue their aspirations. EAHS mid-year graduate Ellyse Shenk provided a student perspective on the high school journey, reminiscing on the memories and lessons learned at EAHS.

In addition to Shenk, the students participating in the ceremony were Aiden Bell, Logan Derr, Brett Garber, Elijah Gonzalez-Serrano, Mia Kecki, Luke La, Carson Lewis, Caleb McNitt, Ryan Morrell, Devon Roush, Tyler Sonntag, Falyn Swift, and Lindsi Umbrell.

The additional early graduates were Zachary Boyer, Hunter Corty, Troy Derstler, Jayden Germer, Caleb Griffie, Morgan Johns, Katie Keeports, Haley Kelley, Addison Lee, Draven Leonard, Paulina Maya, Lacee Miller, Lilianna Milligan, Jonah Perrin, Allison Sauder, James Harvey Smith, Bronsyn Spickler, Landon Sturgill, Sonam Tamang, Maggie Tritt, Jesse Wagner, Gwendelyn Weeks, Abbey Whitman, and Cordelia Williams.

This is the third consecutive year that the school district has hosted a winter graduation ceremony.
