EAHS announces Students of the Month

Emma Keener and Ian Brosey are the Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) Rotary Students of the Month for February. The program recognizes student achievements and seeks to sustain a culture of learning and belonging that values academic success and raises awareness of student contributions to the high school community. The honorees are selected for demonstrating exceptional dedication to their studies, leadership and character qualities, and positive contributions to the school community.

Emma is the daughter of Joe and Jen Keener of Elizabethtown. At the underclass awards program, she received academic excellence awards in Biology and Algebra II, as well as the Academic Leadership Award. Emma serves as the first violinist in the orchestra and the second violinist in the pit orchestra, and she has an internship in the middle and high school orchestra department. Emma is the overall student leader for Mini-THON, a mentor for Jump Start, and a member and mentor in the National Honor Society. Additionally, she is a member of the unified bocce team. Outside school, Emma is a member of the Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, where she leads the worship team and volunteers for the Lunch in the Park program. Emma plans to pursue a degree in child and family studies at Albright College, with the goal of becoming a child life specialist.

Ian resides with John Wanczyk and Selina Boyer of Elizabethtown. He is captain of the football team and a member of the unified bocce team. He received the Do the Right Thing award from Elizabethtown Area Communities That Care, acknowledging his commitment to making a positive difference. Ian demonstrates leadership within the Paws and Think Club and is a Student Ambassador. He plans to pursue a degree in special education.
