Wayside to observe Holy Week, Easter

Wayside Presbyterian Church, 600 Stony Battery Road, Landisville, has slated Holy Week and Easter activities.

On Maundy Thursday, March 28, the church will host a 7 p.m. contemplative service including a choir anthem, Communion, and the stripping of the church in silence. The word maundy is derived from the Latin word for "command," referring to Jesus' commandment to the disciples to "Love one another as I have loved you."

Three Easter Communion services will be held on Sunday, March 31: a sunrise gathering at 6:30 a.m. in the church pavilion or indoors in the event of inclement weather, a 9 a.m. traditional service featuring congregational singing and a choir anthem, and a 10:30 a.m. contemporary service with upbeat singing and special music by the church's Grace Notes praise band. A Flowering of the Cross by the congregation will take place at both indoor services. Worshippers are invited to bring a cut flower from home to add to the cross. Additional flowers will be available.

Holy Humor Sunday on Sunday, April 7, will use humor to celebrate Jesus' resurrection and the small victories experienced in daily life.

The community is welcome to attend these activities. For additional information, call the church office at 717-898-1551 or visit http://www.waysidepc.org.
