Foundational Engineering: Machines That Work, for children ages 6 to 10, will be offered on Tuesdays, April 9 to 30, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. In this Snapology program, kids will use Lego Technic Bricks to learn about machines that people use to help them do work.

An Iddy Biddy Soccer program will be held for children ages 3 to 5 on Saturdays, April 13 to May 18, from 9 to 10 a.m. (Class A) and 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. (Class B) at Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) Field 2, 800 E. High St., Elizabethtown. Children will learn basic soccer skills such as dribbling, passing and trapping. Shin guards are recommended, and cleats are optional. The fee includes a T-shirt.

GEARS will also sponsor the Elizabethtown Area Youth Soccer Program, which is designed to be instructional as well as provide opportunities to participate in low-competitive games. Boys and girls in grades one through three may attend. The program will operate on Saturdays, April 13 to May 18, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at EAHS Field 3, 800 E. High St. The fee includes a T-shirt.

Trail riding will be offered at Ironstone Ranch, 1 Hollinger Lane, Elizabethtown, for individuals age 8 and older. Forty-five-minute guided trail rides will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, April 24 and May 22. The horses are trained to work with riders who have little or no experience. Participants will not trot or gallop, and there is a strict weight limit of 225 pounds.

Medicare Madness, for anyone who is about to turn 65, will be held on Thursday, April 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. Topics will be the basics of Medicare, including how and when to sign up for Medicare; what is covered by the different parts of Medicare (A, B, C and D); the difference between a Medicare Supplemental (Medigap) and a Medicare Advantage plan; and how to find a plan that best fits one's needs. Bingo will be played at the conclusion of the class.

GEARS will host its 18th annual four-person scramble golf tournament on Friday, April 26, at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course, 650 S. Harrisburg St., Harrisburg. The event will have a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The fee per player includes green fees, cart fees, dinner, contests, and prizes. Proceeds will benefit the GEARS Summer Playground Program. The tournament is sponsored by R.E. Pierson Materials and DDMP Investment Advisors.
