Derry Church to welcome Irish dancers

Twenty-five dancers from the Paloma School of Irish Dance will take the stage at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, in the sanctuary at Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 E. Derry Road, Hershey. The performance will feature soft- and hard-shoe dance pieces.

The program is part of the church's 2024 Arts Alive Cultural Series. A freewill offering will be received. Handicapped-accessible parking and an elevator are available.

Founded in 2015 with a handful of students meeting in a kitchen, the Paloma School of Irish Dance has grown into a school of more than 100 students with locations in Lancaster and Baltimore. Dancers have participated in hundreds of performances across central Pennsylvania, from events at nursing homes to concerts with Celtic bands from Ireland.

The troupe features Irish dancers who have won regional championships, are top dancers in North America and have qualified for the World Championships and other overseas championships. The musical group features musicians who have competed at the regional level and have qualified for the Irish Music World Championships in Ireland.
