Effective March 1, Horst Insurance, an independent insurance broker serving southcentral and southeastern Pennsylvania for more than 100 years, has acquired Ruhl Insurance, an 80-year-old insurance brokerage firm based in Manheim.

Formed by Jacob H. Ruhl in 1943, Ruhl Insurance grew to manage the insurance needs of more than 1,800 personal, commercial, farm and agribusiness clients. Nevin Dourte served as the president until his unexpected death in August of 2023.

Headquartered in Lancaster with a branch location in Chadds Ford, Horst Insurance provides insurance services to more than 7,000 family and business clients. Since 1998, Horst Insurance has acquired 10 firms that have all contributed diversification to its team and expanded their geographic footprint throughout all of central and eastern Pennsylvania and 45 other states.
