Committee posts parade winners

An estimated crowd of 15,000 spectators turned out for the 38th York Saint Patrick's Day Parade held on March 16.

The York Saint Patrick's Day committee recently announced the winners of the parade.

Decorated Vehicle - Commercial: first place - Moove In Self Storage and honorable mention - Ace Distributing; Decorated Vehicle - Non-Commercial: first place - Explore York and honorable mention - York County Corvette Club; Antique Vehicle: first place - Karl Schubert; Individual/Family Group: first place - Clan Walsh and honorable mention - Star Lance Farm; Best Float: first place - Holy Trinity Catholic School and honorable mentions - Ni Riain School of Irish Dance Booster Club and Youth Development Center.

Non-Profit Organization: first place - MJ's Starlights Baton & Dance Studio and honorable mentions - Old Fire Farts of York County - White Rose Chapter of SPAAMFA, Canine Rescue of Central PA Inc. and 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Company; Honor Guard: first place - Cedar Cliff High School JROTC and honorable mention - Sea Scout Ship 25 - BSA; Media: first place - CBS 21 and honorable mention - WGAL TV 8; Irish Dance Group: first place - Ni Riain School of Irish Dance and honorable mention - OH! Gills Irish Dance Team.

The Best of Parade award was presented to the Doherty Petri School of Irish Dance.

The parade's master of ceremonies was Steve Knight from a local television station, and the judges, composed of parade sponsors, were Regina Garrett, senior vice president of operations, Ace Distributing; Craig Sharnetzka, president, CGA Law Firm; and JT Hand, president and CEO, York Water Company.

Next year's parade is set for Friday, March 14, 2025.
