Veritas Academy to present "The Hiding Place"

Veritas Academy, 26 Hillcrest Ave., Leola, will present an award-winning musical adaptation of Corrie Ten Boom's "The Hiding Place." The show, performed by students in seventh through 12th grades, will take place Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13, at Leola Elementary School, 11 School Drive, Leola. Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on both days as well as at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Set in Nazi-occupied Holland during World War II, "The Hiding Place" tells of Ten Boom, her sister Betsie, and her father, Casper, as they risk everything to shelter Jewish people. This musical by Stephen Joseph Burke is based on Ten Boom's book and follows her life story from childhood through her concentration camp imprisonment and beyond with her testimony of love, courage, and forgiveness.

Junior Meghan Spanjer of Manheim Township will portray Ten Boom. The cast will also include sophomore Greta Wenger as Young Corrie, senior Victoria Mitchell as Betsie, and junior James Trimbath as Casper. Veritas' theater director is Jordan Gilbert, an award-winning Broadway producer.
