Shoe enthusiast to showcase collection

The Elizabeth Hughes Society will hold a program on Monday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 398 N. Locust St., Elizabethtown. The gathering will take place on the second floor in room 125, next to the contemporary sanctuary. The event is open to the public.

Avid shoe collector Deb Kramer will present a show-and-tell program titled "For the Love of Shoes." She will showcase antique and vintage shoes, including some from well-known local stores such as Crego's and Mary Sachs. A portion of Kramer's extensive collection has been displayed at local libraries.

The Elizabeth Hughes Society, a club for women of Elizabethtown, is celebrating its 95th season this year. The theme for the year is "Wonder Women."

The members of the Elizabeth Hughes Society seek to grow intellectually by studying new and pertinent issues, to commit time and energy to exercise social responsibility, and to meet with other women who are also committed to these goals. The group's founders organized, created, and staffed the first library in Elizabethtown. The Elizabeth Hughes Society continues to give financial gifts to the library and other community groups.
