Planetarium shows set at York Learning Center

The York County Astronomical Society, which is celebrating 18 years of offering planetarium programs to the public, is now offering Saturday afternoon programs for young children and families and Saturday evening programs for older family members.

This month, the society is featuring a children's program, "One World, One Sky: Big Bird's Adventure," and "Max Goes to the Moon." For older family members, there is "Forward! To the Moon" and "Two Small Pieces of Glass."

On Saturday, April 20, "One World, One Sky" will be offered at 2 p.m., followed by a StarWatch at 2:40 p.m. and "Max Goes to the Moon" at 3:20 p.m.

Also on April 20, "Forward! To the Moon" will take place at 7 p.m., followed by a StarWatch at 7:40 p.m. and "Two Small Pieces of Glass" at 8:30 p.m.

The planetarium is located in the York Learning Center, 301 E. Sixth Ave., York. An admission fee will be collected at the door. There will be separate prices of adults and for children and seniors. Admission to any second or third show is discounted. Cash and most credit and debit cards are accepted. Private show reservations are available.

Formed in 1989, the nonprofit York County Astronomical Society aims to promote interest, public education and advancement of the science of astronomy.
