The Manheim Township Historical Society will host a presentation, "The History of Watt & Shand Department Stores" by Nancy Groff, on Tuesday, April 30, at 6:30 p.m. at The Barn above Stoner Grille Restaurant, 605 Granite Run Drive, Lancaster.

Groff has published a book titled "Watt & Shand Department Store." The store was started by James Shand and Peter T. Watt, who was Groff's great-grandfather. The book begins in the Orkney Islands, Scotland, and tells the story of Watt and why and how he came to America.

The presentation will include a slideshow, a display of artifacts, and a book review. Books and posters will be available for purchase.
