Student violinist performs at PMEA festival

Elizabethtown Area High School junior Sarah Heinz recently showcased her talent as a violinist at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Region V Orchestra Festival held from March 21 to 23 at Central York High School.

Sarah was among only 32 violinists selected from her position group. The all-star ensemble performed under guest conductor Hannah Schendel from Minnesota. Schendel serves as the conductor of the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra and holds the position of visiting orchestra conductor at Carleton College.

The Region V Orchestra Festival featured more than 100 students chosen based on their performances at the District Orchestra Festival, where auditions determined the finalists.

The PMEA Region V Orchestra Festival celebrates musical excellence and aims to provide students with a unique opportunity to learn and grow as musicians.
