Springton Manor sets Sheep and Wool Day

Chester County Parks + Preservation's annual Sheep and Wool Day will be held on Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Springton Manor Farm in Glenmoore.

The focal point of Sheep and Wool Day, the annual shearing of the herd, will take place throughout the event. There will also be live blacksmith demonstrations, fleece spinning and weaving demonstrations, kids' inflatables, face painting, wagon rides, food trucks and animal education programs.

Springton Manor Farm's Great Barn will be open with plenty of agricultural history to explore. Penn State Extension and 4-H clubs will showcase animals, milk goats and have cows and swine displays. The Chester County Animal Response Team (CART) will demonstrate how it prepares for emergencies and disasters affecting animals. Attendees will also be able to learn more about Springton Manor Farm from the Friends of Springton Manor Farm group and find out how to get more involved with the park and its animal inhabitants.

Wagon rides through Springton Manor Farm's scenic 300 acres will run throughout the day, and there will be family-friendly exhibits and vendors, craft making and children's games and races.

Sheep and Wool Day is free and will be held in light rain or favorable conditions. Pets are not permitted. Parking will be at Springton Manor Elementary School, 400 Fairview Road, Glenmoore, with free busing provided. Handicapped-accesible and vendor parking will be available at the farm.
