ELANCO Library sets programs

The Eastern Lancaster County (ELANCO) Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will offer a variety of events and programs to the community. Registration is not required, unless noted. For details, visit http://www.elancolibrary.org or contact 717-354-0525 or adagostino@elancolibrary.org.

The Children's Library is being remodeled. Many children's books and audiobooks are available for checkout on the library's first floor, and story times and other children's programs will continue as scheduled. Visit https://elancolibrary.org/a-new-chapter/ for full details.

The library offers various activities regularly. In April, these will include Readers' Roundtable Book Discussion, featuring "The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post" by Alison Pataki, on Monday, April 1, at 2 p.m.; Music and Movement, for children birth to age 6 with a parent or caregiver, on Saturday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m.; Hooks and Needles: Yarn Craft Club, for people of all ages who knit or crochet, on Monday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m.; Lego Creation Club on Thursday, April 11, at 6 p.m.; On the Same Page Teen Book Club, featuring "Hazardous Tales: Treaties, Trenches, Mud, and Blood" by Nathan Hale, on Tuesday, April 30, at 3 p.m.; Preschool Story Time, for children ages 3 to 6, every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.; and Toddler Thursdays, for children birth to age 3, every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Siblings are welcome to join in at Preschool Story Time and Toddler Thursdays.

Children of all ages accompanied by a parent or other caregiver may read aloud to Pepper the Labrador retriever during Read with Pepper the Pup! on April 6 at 2 p.m.

The library will host a solar eclipse party on April 8 at 1 p.m. Space- and solar-themed activities will be available for people all ages, along with a snack and a livestream of the eclipse as seen from different locations. A limited quantity of solar viewing glasses will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Visibility of the eclipse will depend on the weather.

Intro to E-books, E-audiobooks, and E-magazines will be held on Monday, April 15, at 6 p.m. Attendees will learn about e-book, e-audiobook, and e-magazine options that are available free with a library card, as well as how to use them. For assistance accessing these materials via a phone, e-reader, or laptop, people may bring their device to the program.

Intro to Online Learning will be presented on Monday, April 22, at 6 p.m. Patrons will learn about resources offered free with their library card and how to access them. These resources include Transparent Language Online, live tutoring from Brainfuse, and MyHeritage.
